Fall Time, Baby!

 It's Fall!!!

Well, we experienced a glimpse of it this past weekend here in New York anyway. It was lovely! Although it was rainy and cloudy, the cool temperatures brought a smile to my face. Although I started this blog in the summer, my warm weather game really isn't strong. I guess you could say I have some body image issues and I can only stay covered up so much without overheating. I'll work on that next year. The cooler season, however, is where my game is at. Sweaters, shoes, jackets, scarfs, socks... cover me up! Fall and Winter are my two favorite seasons.

The pair of shoes in this outfit made its debut this past Sunday. I purchased them back home in Honolulu (why they sell them there? they sell a lot of cold weather things there that people hoard...) in December, but they are cold weather shoes. They are lined with a very soft fuzzy lining for insulation, thus the long wait to use them. I got a few compliments on them at the pool hall. One guy seemed to be a converse enthusiast, he expressed a deep appreciation for my shoes, and he was wearing Converse himself! The convo went on longer than most compliments do, and I was not prepared with my knowledge of Converse. This is my second pair of Converse, and the last was a winter shoe as well. I don't find classic Chuck Taylors very comfortable at all, but I think all the lining in the cold weather shoes makes them a lot more comfortable. What are your Converse thoughts?

I want to talk about another item in this outfit, the matching color to my shoes. My sweater vest! I should have taken a picture of it without the jacket, but oh well. I am sure you will see it again. This sweater vest (along with all the other colors I own) has become one of my favorite pieces of clothing. I think it adds a lot to an outfit, especially with a tie. The brand is OHOO and is relatively inexpensive. I bought this one and a few other colors for under $20 each. It is a blended fabric, 50/50 cotton, and polyester. I normally don't like polyester in tops, but I have a feeling it contributes a lot to the fact that these things never wrinkle! It is also a great add-on piece for those days when you don't have much time to steam your shirt. Roll your sleeves, throw on a sweater vest, and cover up those wrinkles! That is a top-secret tip. Because it is half cotton, it will shrink a tad. For me, this is a good thing for most men's sweaters. Usually an extra small is too small at the bottom by the hips and chest, but a small that has shrunken just a bit fits great. This sweater vest was my first attempt at the sweater vest thing, so I don't have a comparison to other brands. I'll make sure to do some shopping and try out some other brands in the future.

That's all for now! Later gaters (I know that is spelled wrong, but it rhymes better to me when I see it this way).

Jacket- Banana Republic Distressed Denim Jacket (Women's)

A Little Backyard Fun

Aloha, So I am going to use this post to show off a little fun thing a friend, and I did a couple weekends ago (with pics) while talking about/reviewing one of my favorite pieces of outdoor clothing. I spontaneously bought a Groupon for waterfall rappelling with the company Northeast Mountaineering (I have a little short paragraph about thoughts on them below) a couple of months ago. While packing for this short one day guided activity, I knew exactly what I was going to wear to get pummeled by a waterfall. The pants I am wearing in these photos is Patagonia's Men's Gi III pant. I bought these pants in April 2016. They have since become go-to pant for hiking, traveling, camping, chilly nights on the beach, and basically any outdoor activity. As I said in my last post, I prefer to wear long pants over shorts, even when I am hiking, wading through streams, or in this case waterfall rappelling, no matter how hot it is.  I bought these pants in Hawaii, with Hawaii type of...

New York, New City, New Blog

Dear World (or whoever stumbles upon this blog),  Welcome to my new blog! I have been wanting to do this for a while now, but haven't found the right time or words to get started. As of this past weekend, I am completely moved into my new apartment in New York City, so why not go with the flow of new things! (hopefully, the words will flow too...)  I would like this blog to highlight my taste in fashion and how I navigate shopping and choosing items that look and feel right for me. As you can see in my picture, I am not your typical fashion blogging girl (maybe we'll get into identity things, perhaps not). I am often mistaken for a "sir," which really doesn't bother me, but sometimes shopping can get really awkward, uncomfortable, even terrifying at times. People always make assumptions one way or another — "oh, you would really like this (men's) shirt, it looks like something you would wear." Actually, a lot of my shirts are women's...
